Information and Advice
Our staff has a great deal of knowledge about issues relating to parental separation and divorce. All service users are first seen alone by a mediator/counsellor in an information session. Besides providing us with information about yourself this also gives you an opportunity to ask questions about any issues relating to separation / divorce. We can inform and advise you about parenting, housing, dealing with conflict, understanding the emotional process, where to get specialist advice such as legal, welfare benefits and financial advice. We can also help you to work out if you need on-going support from our own counsellors or other agencies such as health, social care, Women's Aid etc. We would advise you on relationship, emotional and parenting issues. We would advise you where to turn for other advice but we do not offer legal advice. We can explain to you how to go about finding suitable specialist advisors, such as solicitors and financial advisors. We can give you information about a wide range of issues relating to separation/ divorce and we can help you find information you need that we don't have. Information and advice can be provided in counselling and mediation sessions as well as in the special information / advice sessions. If you raise issues your mediator or counsellor think a colleague would be better equipped to deal with they may arrange for you to meet with that colleague.
